Academic Writing Workshop


"Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has arranged an Academic Writing Workshop in collaboration with School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS) for graduate students, doctoral candidates, and faculty members at IBA. The thematic areas for workshop involve research-based writing, analytical reading, and academic arguments. The main purpose of this workshop is to enhance research paper writing skills and to equip early researchers with modern tools and methods used for writing effective literature review.

The workshop is structured around four modules that are spread over two half days: June 9th and 10th. Day 1 of the workshop will feature introduction to research-based writing and techniques for writing literature review. Day 2 will be dedicated to developing academic arguments, dealing with plagiarism & revision tools, and writing data analysis.

Certificate of completion will be awarded to all participants at the end of workshop along with relevant exercise material.

The workshop is exclusively for IBA students, researchers, and faculty members.

Facilitator's profile:
The workshop will be led by Ms. Maria Hassan Siddiqui. She is an Assistant Professor at IBA and Academic Director for Ardeshir Cowasjee Writing Center (ACWC) at IBA. Ms. Maria has conducted several workshops and trainings and possess over 17 years of experience in various institutions. She has helped numerous postgraduates and researchers write complex documents including research articles, theses, and dissertations.
