Humboldt Research Fellowships in Germany | For Postdoctoral and Experienced Researchers

We are pleased to announce Humboldt Research Fellowships in Germany for Postdoctoral and Experienced Researchers. 

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants research fellowships to scientists and scholars from abroad with above-average qualifications to sponsor long-term research stays at research institutions in Germany. The purpose of the research fellowships is to carry out the proposed research, chosen by the research fellows themselves, in cooperation with an academic host who must provide the necessary research facilities at the host institute and act as a mentor during the research stay. 

By accepting the research fellowship, the research fellow commits him- or herself fully to the objective of the fellowship during the duration thereof. It is not possible to pursue any other full-time employment in Germany or elsewhere during the period sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Research fellowships are granted to post-doctoral and experienced researchers:

• Research fellowships for post-doctoral researchers allow scientists and scholars from abroad with above-average qualifications, at the beginning of their academic careers, who have only completed their doctorates in the last four years to stay in Germany for an extended period of research (6- 24 months). The monthly fellowship amount is €2,670.

• Research fellowships for experienced researchersallow scientists and scholars from abroad with above-average qualifications, who completed their doctorates less than twelve years ago, to stay in Germany for an extended periods of research (6-18 months, may be divided up into as many as three stays). Researchers are expected to have their own discernable research profile. They should usually be working at least at the level of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Group Leader or have a record of several years of independent academic work. The fellowship amount is €3,170.

Deadline:

• The Selection Committee responsible for reviewing applications to this programme meets every March, July and November. 
• Send your completed application form, including any additional documents required, well in advance of the desired selection date.
• Applications are usually processed within four to eight months. 
• You and your host will receive a letter with the outcome of your application approximately five weeks after the decision is made.
