Title: Preemptive Priority Based Data Fragmentation Scheme for Heterogeneous Traffic in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs)

Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2020

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) comprise of tiny devices capable of sensing, computing and communicating the parameters of interest. With the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the application areas of WSN have been rapidly broadening. Advanced applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) often deal with heterogeneous data; some of such applications include healthcare, industrial automation and control, vehicular ad hoc networks and smart homes. In most application scenarios, different traffic types have specific service requirements in terms of delay tolerance, throughput, bandwidth efficiency and reliability. This implies that WSN nodes should be able to categorize each type of data based on the required priority level. Therefore, while developing the communication protocols for WSN nodes, differentiated service is often offered to facilitate different types of traffic.

ICICT 2019 Conference Day 2

Date: Sunday, November 17, 2019

The second day of the conference was started with a Keynote session by Dr. Momin Ayub Uppal. He presented the findings from his experiments which he conducted with the students of LUMS. His talk revolved around Environmental sensing using WiFi signals. Dr. Haider Abbas addressed the audience right after Dr. Momin. He talked about Cyber Security Auditing and Evaluation which is a challenge for every organization. The students were engaged in an insightful Q&A session with both the speakers. The engaging discussion continued by the key note session of Dr.Haider Abbas as he spoke on the topic of Cyber Security and Evaluation.

The key speakers Dr. Agha Ali and Dr. Amir Qayyum had the key note sessions after the refreshment scheduled.

The technical papers sessions on different topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Social Computing and Information, and Networks were held the same time slot at different locations at Aman Tower which were headed by Session Chair and Session Secretary. The last tutorial of the ICICT conference was held at Aman Tower, by Dr. Muhammad Imran on the topic of Research Areas in 5G and Telecom.

The exciting and informative conference of ICICT this year 2019, came to an end at the closing ceremony in which after the recitation of Tilawat ,Closing remarks ,presentation of the Souvenirs to the keynote speakers, followed by vote of thanks by the conference chair. The group picture captured at the end of the ceremony made it special and memorable moment for all those who actively had contributions in making this conference a success and remarkable this year.

(QISS) 2019 lecture videos available online

Date: Sunday, July 15, 2020

On July 2019, in Institute of Business Administration (IBA-FCS) hosted a four-day long Quantum Information Summer School (QISS) 2019 from July 15-18, 2019 at the IBA, Karachi main campus. It is an intensive summer school to develop international collaborations between Pakistani scientists and international experts for building quantum computers. The second iteration of QISS invited experts from across the globe to highlight recent developments and challenges in the field of quantum information and computation. QISS is an initiative of Assistant Professor Faculty of Computer Science at IBA, Karachi Dr. Jibran Rashid. Students and professors from 19 Pakistani universities used QISS 2019 as an opportunity to learn and discuss ideas with Director, Institute for Quantum Science and Technology, University of Calgary, Dr. Barry Sanders; Group Leader YIRG Young Independent Researcher Group, Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna, Dr. Amin Baumeler; Postdoctoral research fellow, University of Queensland, Dr. Fabio Costa, and Postdoctoral researcher, Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics, Dr. Denis Rosset. In the four-day sessions, the discussed topics included; Device Independence, SoS Optimization, Practical Quantum Programming for Near-Term Hardware, Representation Theory, Problem Solving Session, How to use a Quantum Computer and Quantum Processes.
